Australian Climate Change Authority which is under threat of being abolished by the Government says a 5% target is not a credible option for Australia.

15-25% reductions are needed to ease the climate burden beyond 2020. For the Coalition’s $3.2bn Direct Action plan which is designed to barely meet the 5% minimum target, suggestions for increased reductions is probably unwelcome.

ScienceDebate 2012 – Romney’s position on climate change: I acknowledge it’s happening but refuse to do anything about it.

Whereas President Obama has begun challenging the feared campaign subject of Climate Change. Of course there is a very long road ahead but tackling the challenges posed by a changing climate and depleting resources will only make America stronger. In order to survive in this new age of emerging markets, it is time for innovation to be the order of the day.

As we approach the end of 2012, and for some, the end of the world (as the Mayan’s calculated) we are able to reflect on this years massive ecosystem changes. For me the most potent warnings of a world in crisis is seen in the increasing occurrence of droughts, in the growing list of threatened species and the shocking melt of the poles. With the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC  commencing this November in Doha, let’s hope we see more action then talk.
